Puyallup Tribe Youth Screen at National Museum of the American Indian

Native Lens Program - Teaching Native Youth Digital Storytelling

Photo provided by Longhouse Media

I spent one Summer mentoring youth of the Puyallup Tribe in digital storytelling. One of the groups I worked with wrote and directed piece called “My World”, which will be screening twice a day for the entire month of February as part of a shorts program at the National Museum of the American Indian. It is a visually interesting video that features cool shots of jingle dress dancing. For more information about the screening and other films playing visit the NMAI website: http://blog.nmai.si.edu/main/2011/02/februarys-free-film-screening-shared-experience-telling-our-stories.html

Working with Longhouse Media and the youth from the Puyallap Tribe, which is near Seattle, Washington was a really great experience. If you are in the Washington, D.C. area go out to the National Museum of the American Indian and check out this piece screening with the work of other talented Native youth.
