`Ike Kū`oko`a Public Plea

I learned two things today. First there is a Hawaiian National Independence day called Lā Kūʻokoʻa. You can learn more about the history of the holiday and it’s significance in Hawai`i today from `Oiwi TV Secondly there is a major volunteer opportunity that was kicked off in honor of this year’s Lā Kūʻokoʻa holiday. It is the Awaiaulu call for volunteers to help create a searchable database of Hawaiian newspapers before they shipped Asia to be transcribed by a group of outsourced workers. Watch the video below for more information and go to this website to sign up to volunteer: http://www.awaiaulu.org/main/index.php
